CEREC Ceramic Reconstruction

The CEREC 3D system we use at Holdrege Family Dental Care is comprised of an acquisition unit with special 3D software, and a milling unit that can precisely mill a new tooth from a solid block of ceramic in just a few minutes. The acquisition unit uses a special camera to take a picture of your prepared tooth. From this image, the software creates a 3D model which your dentist uses to design the restoration on screen.

When the dentist feels the design is correct, the digital file is sent to the milling unit. Here, the dentist mounts a block of ceramic similar in color to your natural teeth and the milling unit exactly mills the crown, inlay or veneer to the onscreen specifications. When the machine is finished, usually in 10-20 minutes, the restoration can be fitted and perfectly bonded to the tooth — all in one visit.

Long-lasting CEREC ceramic restorations are extremely durable and can be expected to provide many years of service.
